Default 09+ Windscreen?

Anyone use one? I commute 16 miles round trip to work and ride around town a lot. I was thinking this would be a nice addition for the bike. I've really only found the TCI removable screen for 185 bucks. Are there any other products out there?

Mainly I'm looking for more comfort on the highway for long rides. Do they work or waste of money? Any chance they help fuel economy on long rides? Any way to squeeze some range out of the tank is nice.

I used a windscreen from an old Kawi EX-500 and just strapped it on. It made a huge difference in comfort - I was warmer, drier, and much less buffeted by the wind. It was much smaller than a TCI windshield, so I can only imagine the TCI would do more.
Lot's of other options, but you might need to do some "customizing" to make it work, as none are made to fit the KLX.

just beware of wind resistance at highway speed...how much speed you'll sacrifice with a big windscreen...i commuted freeways daily...did 500 mile trip on the highway on the klx...you are better off learning to ride in the wind and stay loose to let the wind go through you...you'll get better highway speed and mpg...

Hmm...not sure what I want to do yet. 185 for the wind screen is a bit of a gamble. Although if it will surely make riding at highway speeds more comfortable I might consider it. I think more then anything a proper street helmet will makes things that much better then what I currently use. As far as fuel consumption I've heard it improves it but who knows. It doesn't protect you 100 percent from the wind so maybe the windscreen plus your body might hinder mileage.

I ran the TCI for over a year, but removed it this spring because I kept hitting my head on it offroad. Now that I've gotten used to it being gone, I could never go back...

Despite the off road part, did it make any difference around town?

Yes, it definitely reduced the amount of wind in the chest area, and still had pretty clean air in the face.

I found an old aftermarket windscreen from a 70's or 80's cruiser and it fit perfect on my klx. It had the adjustable clamps that clamped to the handlbars and you can raise and lower the screen on the shafts of the clamps. Works slick. Its really tall though and with me sitting straight up and down on my bike i dont have to lean to get out of the wind. It was free so im not complaining haha.
