Default ‘09 Rear Disk Guard template is finished.

‘09 Rear Disk Guard template is finished.
Next step is to cut it out of .190” aluminum. IF this works I will then have it CNC machined.
It is not like most, it is just a plate and not a full replacement for the brake holder assembly. I will also add some cutouts to reduce the weight and make it look a little better.

Nice! I have an 09 that I would be interested in outfitting with a reasonably-priced rear disc guard....

So here is a proto type. I used a hacksaw to rough cut it. I went through 2 blades. It appears I need to make the outer Radius a little smaller and the cutouts a little more to the center. I use to program a CNC router and punch at my last job. This would be perfect for a CNC Router to make. I just need to find a local Business that would be able to do this for a reasonable price.

That sort of looks fragile. Rather than all those cut outs, how about just drilling holes to allow for airflow to the brake disc. How does it mount?

Is it possible to make it thicker, like at least quarter inch? I've machined a lot of aluminum it just doesn't seem strong enough, heat treat perhaps lol. And yes, move the cutouts to flow with the fin and up higher.

Good prototype though.

Make the cutouts into a few slots that are angled instead of perpendicular, so it forces air onto the rotor.

I'd bet that there is sufficient airflow without any cuts/holes. But, drilled holes would result in a stronger piece, compared to cutouts.

+1 scrap the cut-outs & use 1/4" plate stock. Drilled holes if anything.
