UPDATE ON THE C858........

At 2000 miles I consider this tire done for offroad duty. There is less than a quarter inch of **** left in the center and dirt traction is lacking. The tire was wearing well but the last 700 miles have been mostly HARD pavement miles, WFO starts and early downshifting and generally running the snot out of the poor bike (personal probs......resorted to stress management via throttle cable).

I was going to get the next size larger (5.10-18) C858 because this tire is great for the trails around here and pavement but decided I'd try the trackmaster 2 in the stock size. I've got alot of "me" time coming this summer and plan to be in the dirt as much as possible.

Based on the grip and all around performance of the C858 I will most likely go back to it when the TM is gone.

How do the 606's compare to the K270's on the road? I found a site that says the 606's are 90% offroad and 10% on, is that pretty accurate?

I've got about 200 miles on my 606's and they see 60% highway - 35% dirt - 5% air time. I like 'em, they also seem stiffer and tougher than the oem 603's.

I am running the trackmastersII front and rear. I have the 110/100-18 on the back. They seem too hook up real good in the loose stuff. Road manners are not that bad, but I also don't push it real hard on the street.

ive been runnin the TrakMasters... im on my 2nd rear tire.. first front.. i do about 70% road and 30% dirt. i wanted the aggressive tires for the offroad riding i do. i dont putt down 2 lane trails with em when im offraod.. im usually all out so these tires were what i thought would be good. They are aggressive as hell and hook up great BUT.. the 70% of road riding i do destroys em. im lucky if i can get 1000 miles out of a rear tire. Im going to be ordering the D606's next. hopefully soon. I'll be losing offroad capability, but having to put a new rear tire on the bike in 1000 miles or less is getting annoying.

Pavement: Good
Mud: Average
Clay Mud: Poor
Sand: Poor
Loose Dirt: Good
Packed Dirt: Good
Gravel: Average

I've mostly driven as a commuter to work and joy riding. But for the miles driven on only pavement, they are doing pretty good. Just starting to square a little on the rear.

Has anyone had any experience with the maxxis 6006 50% on 50% off road tires? I'm running the IRC GP1 tires and have 2500 miles on them, with half the tread left. They handle good on and offroad, but not great.I ride 42 miles a day round trip to work on Hwy 34 out of the Cache valley in Idaho. I run and maintaina limestone mill up in the mountains above the Bear river. It's a beautiful ride with many offroad detours available. So I'm trying to find a very good 50/50 tire.
