Default "NEW" 2005 KLR650 to me anyway

I just bought a 2005 KLR650 with 1400 miles on it from a local dealer (from the service manager actually). The dealership let me finance it thru their bank. They talked me into getting a 3 year service agreement to cover everything the owners manual says it needs. It was $1,000. Did I pay too much for this? They said normally it would be around $1600. I got the bike for $3800. I'm sure I could do most of the maintenance but they seem like a really good dealership and blah blah blah, anyhow just wanted to know what other KLR owners think.
Thanks
Ken

Hey Ken, congrats on the bike, and welcome to the forums. I'm not sure about the service agreement. That is different than the 4 year warranty that I bought for my bike. That was around $440, but it sounds like what you got will actually cover some routine maintenance. Have fun on the bike and let us know how it goes. Is it your first bike? If so or even if it isn't take the MSF class I hear good things.
