Default burning oil

Hi; I just purchased 1985 klr 250 and it smokes really good. Pulled the head, piston and cylinder. Piston and cylinder doesn't look really bad; are valve seals or guides bad on these bikes. Anyway I was just wondering if these bikes are known for burning oil; it only has 12,000 km on it. Thankyou.

Default RE: burning oil

if the rings are good the only other place for the oil to get into the motor to burn is through the head, so id have the valves checked and everything that goes along with them....
