I have a 454 LTD model 1990.
I had to get the starte fixed so i bought a starter kit and took everything to a shop that fixes things like that.
Today i got a call from them and they said that the teeths on the wheels in the starter gear inside the starter are all worn down.
So i checked info at kawasakipartshouse.net and there is no gear in the starter, so the starter must be from another bike.
Can anybody tell me wich bikes has gear inside the starter.

Ok for others to know these bikes and the 500 untill 1996 are the only bikes that has gears in the starter and if they break you can´t get another one (except of a used atarter), it´s inside the front end of the starter.
Thats why it is not shown on the diagrams.

 

I see that that diagram is showing the gear being obsolete. I hate seeing that happen in the Kawi scene. Makes it tough on us to keep the vintage iron running but I am sure it keeps kawi's inventory more cost effective.

Have you located a parts bike yet?

 

I found another used starter in UK and i´m buying it thx.
