Default Headlight

I have a 2001 vulcan 750, the headlight is giving me problems, all other lights work great! The headlight only works occasionally, when I start the bike up if it comes on it will stay on until i turn it off. If i start the bike and it doesnt come on, it will stay off and i have to keep restarting to see if it will turn on. I have checked the bulb and its fine, no bad fuses that i know of either, wiggled wires while the bike was running would do nothing. What is up with this anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like maybe you have a dirty or bad connection. Try unplugging and reconnecting all or as many wires and applying a small amount of electrical grease to each of them. If nothing else, you perform a needed maintenance that usually gets neglected.

Let us know what you find.

I had a problem like that with my bike. I went to the west coast 2 years ago with no problems. Then at the Grand Canon the headlight would only work when it wanted to. After checking all else I took of the headlight to find that the connection wire was just a hair to short. So when I would turn the handlebars to far the connection would loosen a little. Then when I turned it back the light would go on. I rewired it with a longer wire and have not had any trouble with it since. I hope this will help, and if not then good luck.
