I bought a used Bayou 300 4x2 a couple of days ago. I am brand new at this ATV thing, but I am pretty handy with things like boat, trailers, etc. Never worked on an ATV though. The rear locking differential seems to be either stuck or broke, maybe both. I am in the unlocked mode now. I think when I got it it was locked, as it was riding a little funny. Not exactly sure. I can't get a feel for exactly how the mechanism actually works (both the front handle where you engage and also the arm on top of the differential at the rear). Any thoughts? I took the engage lever assembly off but it doesn't want to come apart so I can look inside, so I put it back on. Is the nut in the middle of that assembly some sort of adjustment? Mine seems stripped, not sure what it does. At the rear....how far does the little arm on top of the differential move to engage/disengage? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
