Default 250cc bayou smokes

I have a question. My girlfriend sunk my new 08' 250 bayou. I immediately drained the oil and changed it 8 times. I went out and ran the bike for a weekend and it ran perfect. Although i noticed a small amount of smoke when you really floor it. In idle it has no smoke. I was wondering if I need new rings or it may just be something I didnt notice before.

a wet and dry compression check will tell you what you need.

do a dry test and note the pressure, then pour about 2-3 capfuls of ATF or motor oil in the cylinder and do another comp check.. if the value is significantly higher, new rings may be a future investment.. a wet test will always raise the comp pressure, but if its over another 20% or so, its rings. if theres no difference, then that points to a valve or gasket leaking..

smoking under hard load can be a bunch of things.. could be a clogged breather, leaky valve seal, or the oil rings... each one tho is an easy find thrru process of elimination.

Welcome to KF, btw..
good luck bro! keep us posted!
