Default 06 KFX 50 question

Hello fellas
I just bought my two boys an 06 KFX 50cc quad for X-mass. So far Santa is the greatest guy around and dad is still dad. Anyway to the point. Right out of the box the KFX 50 is a jem. Starts up right quick with the easy button and it has a nice quiet ride; however, the power is way restricted. I have turned the throttle regulator all the way off (screw all the way out) and it still just putts along at about 10-15mph. I know this thing has more get-up-and-go than this, question is, how do I get to it?

I have heard there is a "key hole" regulator plate over the manafold intake, is this true? Also, is there any other way to open this thing up myself without having to dump $$$$ in aftermarket race parts in it? Any of your tips are greatly welcomed.

Thanks

Sting33

There is no exhaust restriction on your 50s. But there is aspacer/collar between the drive converter (pulley) sheavesthat limits the effective beltengagementdiameter. You need to take it out to get more top speed. You may need a special tool to disassemble the drive pulley.

I know on my boys 06 ttr 50, it has boats loads of power. I have to turn the screw in to slow the damn thing down. It still halls my 220 lbs but around with the screw in(little over half way). It wheelies when i shift into second.

Mods that are supposed to help my boy's bike are mainly the air intake. Its supposed to be pretty restrictive. The only thing i did was put a 2bros exhaust on it. Im gonna wait till he's a little older to mod it.

That's from putting that 220 lbs all the way to the back of the seat try moving forward on the seat to help keep the front end down

By the way, the dealer may charge you for getting the collar out ofthe CVT, and make you to sign the liability disclaimer for increased top speed as well. Call them up and ask before you go.
