losing power - 2018 Kawasaki Mule SX XC
hello! i am new to the forums here, and a new mule owner. i have searched around looking for a similar issue as the one i am having but came up short.
i got this mule from my father-in-law a few months ago. it was bought new in 2018 and has never had any issues. it has also had regular maintenance.
a couple of weeks ago it started to lose power and died. it cranked back up after some time, then died shortly after. it even ran fine for a few days at one time early on before dying again. in short, all i am saying is that whatever is happening definitely has progressed.
at this time it will die within a few minutes or less of driving. once it dies it will not start up right away, but will after a short period of time. only to die again within minutes. it idles fine. it seems to kill it quickly when i throttle it hard as it is dying. and sometimes i can get it to jump back into power by gently tapping the throttle.
so far i have replaced the spark plug and fuel filter. i have also cleaned the air filter and made sure the air intake was clear. i've also done some other minor inspection things. my next step i think is to replace the fuel pump. i will admit to not being the most experienced of mechanics.
any one have any pointers on this situation or have experienced anything similar? does replacing the fuel pump sound like a reasonable next step?
thanks!
