I'm trying to install a new starter solenoid on my 550 Mule but can't get the old one off. I think the white plastic slotted pin is engaged with something in the starter and I don't know how to release it. If I pull on the solenoid I feel a springy resistance but it won't release. Not wanting to break something in the starter I've stopped until getting some advice. Thanks, David Criss

 

So I just bought a 2004 550, never having had experience with one before. It looked to me like the starter and solenoid were a package deal.
