Hello,
i have a problem with my zx6r '05.
From the moment i start my bike, im getting a fi warning !! this problem accurs frequent !!So last time i went to my dealer for maintenance i told him about this problem !! He connected the bike to the computer, but they cant find a problem there. At that time it was freezing cold in belgium. So they thought it had something to do with the air- intake, another possibilty was a valve in the exhaust.
I m not a mechaniek ( dont know anything about it ) This was a copple of weeks ago, then i had a warning avery now and then, but now, the warning is from the moment i start, until i stop my bike !! Sometimes i have a sudden los of power.i had this about 4 times in the last month.The problem always starts when the bike is just getting warm ( after 3-4 km ).Last time i was driving about 115km/h , i was losing speed, for about half a minute , no matter what i did !! One other time, i thought i'll try to shift 1 gear down, and then go back on throttle. But from the moment i shifted gear, the bike lost a lot of speed ( felt like when you brake extremely hard ). No matter what you do , you cant speed up.
It always takes about 15-30 seconds. and always at the start of a trip ( when you just drove about 3-4-5 km ).
Did anyone of you guys and girls had this problem before ??
Does anyone know what the problem is ?? Can someone tell me what needs to be done, to fix this.
I'm going back to the kawasaki dealer next week, and maybe i can tell him by then what needs to be checked.
I appreciate any help/suggestions !!

Sounds likg you have a real problem there. If i was you i would try and take it to a different dealer and see what they say. the only things i tink it could be is maybe a bad ecu or injector. But not 100% sure on that.

 

well first of all welcome to the forum.... i have an 05 636 also, and i've never heard that kinda of problem from anyone here including myself.... seem to me that's pretty serious.... if i were to take a guess i would say, it would have something to do with the ECU? i don't know maybe i'm just talking out of my a$$.... but i would take the bike back the to stealership for sure and have them road test the bike for a few days... an intermittant (how ever you spell the crap) is very hard to find until it happens in the shop... so good luck and keep us posted...

 

The same issue has happened with the 10r's it seems also. Read on it through the zx10r.com site.

 

All the post seem to be pointed in the right direction, another poss. could be the fuel pump/ pump relay this would make since not enough fuel=no power or loss of. I dont think it would be a filter due to it only being a year old and with it being intermitin I would think it would be a loss in fuel preassure- related to pump relay or injector pulse being interupted. By no means I'm not certified in fuel managment or the electrical aspects related to it, but this is what makes since to me... I hope this helps a little.

I'll go back to the kawasaki dealer on friday, i need a new tyre anyway. I have 2 years warranty, so they will have to fix this !!
Can anyone tell me what an ECU is ?? Never heard that before ( we probibly give it different name in belgium ).
Then i can tell the mechaniek about it. I dont have a problem with my mechaniek he's [sm=smiley20.gif]. But last time, when they connected my bike to the pc, they couldnt found a problem ( 2 mechaniks ). Only this time i will only leave untill the problem is solved !!
Then i let you know , what the problem was !!!
