Wierd won't start sometimes - Battery is Good
4 or 5 times over the last 2 weeks my bike (97 zx6r-F) was hesitating to start. I had to hold down the starting button for 5, even 10 seconds but it always started. This only happened on the first ride of the day and seems to get worst/longer if it sat for longer.
The other day I went out and it wouldn't start at all! Damn it!! Yesterday I went out to take out the battery and for the hell of it tried starting it, started perfect. Drove it down the road, parked it for 20 minutes. It wouldn't start until 5 minutes of trying to start it.
I'd appreciate any help/ideas, I have a manual and I'm very handy with a multimeter.
Thanks - Jutboy

I'm so sorry for the late delay guys...my computer crapped out on me!
Thanks for all the good advice.....let see....
the tank is half full -its gave me this same problem on a bunch of different gas tanks but never left me holding the button for more then 10 seconds.
I have another selonoid from a 01 ninja it looks similar but a little rounder. I bought it from a guy for 5 bucks because my bike used to tick when starting it in neutral if I didn't pull in the clutch. I completely forgot about that.
I'll check the starter and for any shorts around the tank.
I have no idea to test the fuel pump however. Can anyone help me on if the above selonoid will work and how to test my fuel pump.
THANKS SO MUCH!!!! This forum is hands down the best - Justin
