Cool Top end rattle DTrakerX 250

My engine has done 14k kilometres and not driven hard. I have developed an engine rattle that comes in at 5500 rpm and fades out over 6000. It sounds to me like piston slap but find that hard to accept due to the low kilometres done.Oil was recently changed to the approved quality API SG. Bike has not lost any performance or burning oil. Any suggestions? Is this a problem in short stroke engines with small piston skirt So?

Does it sound a little like gravel shaken in a metal coffee can? A way too common problem.

I've worked with engines all my life,I'm retired now, and the cam chain adjuster makes sense. Thank you for your prompt reply. I will investigate further and post results.

The auto cam chain tensioner is a common problem. I have Krieger's manual unit. He's a great guy and a lot of help. Look in the FAQs in my sig line and search to find more threads on it. Good luck and welcome to KF.
