tail lights not working?
hey guys i'm new to the site and new to bikes really, i've been building cars for years and they recently began to bore me, so i figured i'd jump into a bike. i figured i could have a lot more fun with them. so i bought an 08 zx6r and when i bought it i bought that two brothers slip on/fender elimination kit type thing. well i took everything off ok, put the exhaust midpipe and slip on on ok, and when i went to do the wiring, they make you extend the rear turn signal light wires so you can plug them into the "connection port" under the seat so they work. well i decided to cut the oem connectors off and attach them to the rear turn signal wires two brothers gives you so they would snap in correctly under the seat. well when everything was connected and ran, the rear turn signals wouldn't work. but the weird thing is the front turn signals wouldn't work either. do you think i blew a fuse? there are fuses right? the headlights turn on and the "gauge cluster" lights all work, and i can hear the fuel pump buzzing when i turn the bike on. all the wires were ran and connected, i also tried every possible wire combination so it doesn't seem to be a problem with the wiring to me. but i am new to the bike engineering. any suggestions/info on the subject would be very helpful.
ya.. sounds like you popped a fuse.. if just the connection was bad, the front ones would still work.
i'm not 100% sure, but i wanna say the fuse box is under the throttle side (right, when you're sitting on the bike) plastic piece between the tank/frame section and fairing. not sure what that little piece of plastic is called either.. you guys and your new bikes.. bah.
lol.. but ya.. meter it out to make sure that it's not shorted, otherwise you'll just keep poppin fuses.
good luck, and welcome to KF!

The other thng to check is that you have an earth return from the rear If this isthe case, the loading on your flasher unit could be off enough that it doesn't operate at all. You're still using the stock indies? Fitting LEDs or even changing the wattage ofthe bulbs can give similar problems.
Use a meter to check out the circuit.
