stuck gas cap
Hey fellas, i'm new to the place.. Just got myself a 90 zx750.
I'm trying to do a tune up on this thing, but its stubborn, e****ially the tank. full of rust, wont drain from any hole!
and its got a locking gas cap which wont come off either, i've already bent the key. anyone know how to get the damn thing off?
whatever other useful info i can get on the bike and tuning it up would help me a lot, don't know too much about it, so don't spare any details

Ouch.. If the tank is full of rust, the cap could be rusted on. I would try the cheap way first. Get some dry graphite and put into the keyhole. The graphite will not mess up the tumblers like WD40, etc, will. You can buy that from any parts store. Also I would spray the cap around the edges, with a rust desolver, where it might soak down and eat up some of that rust. Hopefully it's the right key!!!!! If it's the right key
, and the graphite and WD doesn't work, then I don't know. But, I bet somebody here does. Just my two cents. Hope it works...

Kind of sounds like this bad boy sat in some serious weather for a few years. I would unbolt the whole thing from your tank, let it soak in diesel while you do a thourough cleaning and possibly coating of the innards of the tank. I would hate to see the rest of the carb system. Screens, filter, float bowls, needles, etc. Good luck.
also try lightly tapping the cap with a rubber mallet, lightly ! dont smash the cap into the tank. another area prone to f'in up on the older zx7's is the intake gasket. once you pull the rack off and go through it. check to make sure the intake is sealing if not the motor wont run unless your reving the **** out of it.
