Default Stripped Kickstart

Hello all- I have a 2006 KLX300R and my son's friend layed it down with the kickstarter out. It stripped the internal gearing. I cannot locate a repair manual for this machine. I am a very mechanically inclined individual. Can this repair be done without a manual? Can I get to this gearing without removing the jug ? How difficult would you put this repair on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the toughest ? Is there any tips that you could suggest ?

you need to at least take off the right side cover and MAYBE you can get to this. Then you need to find out what is actually stripped out or damaged.

If you cant get to it with the right cover off, then you need to split the cases. Major overhaul.
that is a 10 if you've never done it before.
