Squeeling Noise
Hello, I am a new bike owner. I bought a 1989 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-750R-F for $2000. I cleaned the tank and noticed some rust in the tank. Any ideas on how I can get it out? Also, when I rev the motor between 1500 rpms to 4000 rpms the bike makes a squeeling noise any suggestion on what this might be. Anyways just want to know if I paid too much. I've rode it a few time seems to run okay. Body of the bike looks pretty good. There are some scratches on both sides of the fairings and I notice a crack in the fairing up underneath.

congrats on the ride. Kinda curious as well on the noise. They do run a belt driven alternator or do you think it may be a vacuum leak. But you would have noticed your engine performance with a vacuum leak.
i have ownedthat same bike. for me it was the alternator belt slipping. mine only did it on the first ride of the day for a few hundred feet. might look into tightening the belt. as for the rust i bought a kit at my dealer that was a three part process. costs around $35 and takes only 2 days to complete. that bike was my first bought mine for $300 and spent a few months getting it streetable. lots of fun.
Ok, I was about to ask WTF you were talking about with the alternator belt until I checked out the alternator myself on bikebandit's website. You're right! I can't believe they used a freakin' belt on these bikes!

How many other bikes are there with belt driven alternators???

hahaha, I did not realize that they had a belt either until a year ago. One of my friends was complaining about his charging issues. Found out the belt was toast and problem was solved.
Personnally bgillette78
, if the cover etc has to be taken off to get to the belt, why not just swap in a new one? Maybe I am lazy.
