if you use the bump method cam lobes should be pointing one to the east and one to west, very good method i forgot thanks kevyztoy, do you know the name of the tool thats used to lift the cam shaft to get the shim out

No I don't.My bike is shim over bucket so all I have to do is slide a rocker over to the side to get the shim. I don't have to remove the cams.

Tip. If it ain't rettling, just leave it! Listen to your engine when it is running, use a stethoscope or a screwdriver and you can hear a eace tappet n rocker, if they sound louder than any other then one is worn or loosened. then think about it.
I can't answer much further than that, as like the lot above say, I don't know if it bucket n shims or ol' style rocker n tappet, might help if u let us know the mdel too.

Acually I would rather hear some tapping. If they are quiet, they could be getting on the tight side, and that ain't good.
