Hey guyz,
New to this forum. Just recently bought a zx9r. Came with a problem though. It runs fine and everything but it won't stay on if the kick stand is down. Basically, most bikes will shut off if you start riding with the kick stand down. But for some reason this one does not turn on or shuts off as soon as you put it on the kick stand. Its a pain cuz I can't leave it running to warm it up before riding.
Any help would be appreciated.

It shuts off in neutral with the kickstand down?

 

yeah... so basically if i need to warm up the bike, i have to basically sit on it with the kick stand up...

 

call the stealership....err dealership. probably your neutral safety switch went bad

 

Isn't that a safety feature built into the bike?? I could be wrong, it has happened before, but isn't there a switch on the kickstand by the pivot, so when the kick is down it shouldn't run. Can you bypass the switch?? loop the wires back into themselves?

 

its designed so that happens when the kick stand is down and the bike is in gear it shuts off

i know about the bike shutting off if you start driving with the kick stand down.

but mine doesn't even start when it is down. it should atleast start in neutral so that i can warm it up...

 

I think tx pegged it...

 

check to see if any wires are disconnected by the stand switch.
