Default New '09 Vulcan Voyager overheating

after 800 km @ 2-2500rpm I rode 6 km no problem, then after the bike was cooled down I started it & idle was up to 2 thou rpm, as I reached 4 km idle was ok, went on a 2 hr run & about 1.5 hrs later temp gauge started to rise to 3/4 on gauge, as I continued @ highway speed temp. went down to 1/2, normally it sit's @ 1/4-1/2, checked fluid & was @ full mark.

is there anyone out there who has had this prob?

Have you burped the system? Flushed it?

Spark plug failure or dirty may cause an issue. IC igniter issues maybe in the worst case scenario. Good luck and welcome to KF.

I would take it back to the dealer. It should be under warranty.

I checked with a Kawasaki dealer in my home town & they did not acomplish anything except damage my tank trying to take off the on-off acc. ring & is higher from tank than should & there is a howling sound comming from the rear...no luck from this shop, they say they will fix it. I am now waithing for a trailer & take it to the shop where I bought it, 5 hrs away. Temp. gun says good, they down loaded info from Kaw on there computer, that did not work.

Gotta love those dealers...
I think Drag may be onto something; take off your rad cap and let the coolant flow a few minutes (beyond normal warm-up temp so thermostat opens.) Fan kicks on, right?
Welcome to the forums. Keep us posted on the progress (or lack of.) We'll track down the problem if we can.
Gear up; stay safe.

I did trailer my Voyager to where I bought & they found no problems other than when hot it will read 3/4 on heat gauge...normal...
"gotta love those dealers"...another dealer in the area did an oil change, they forgot to tighten drain plug...
bike runs great, throught the Rocky Mountains.
Is there anyone who rides the 2009 voyager...to compare...also looking for accessories.
