100.00 bucks, vortex, [sm=shades.gif]get the stocker off also try to wiggle the key as your turning it and apply pressure to the cap, even tap on the cap with a hammer a few times.

 

The Key work for the rest of the bike.

Maybe it is time to test my guts! To spend some money and fix it right or break the damn thing open....

if they key isn't opening it, then My guess is its broke. which means you would just have to replace it anyways, and you can't have it rekeyed, so you would have a different key. I would just go with the keyless cap. just becarefull you don't **** up your tank. A big drill bit would probably be the safest route. just remember once you get it off, drain the gas and do a good cleaning in the tank

 

wal, on the 7's cant you pry between the cap and the ring and pop it off ? i cant remember it. i know my 92 has screws on the outside. but nothing was holding it to the tank, just the ring.

 

on my 7 the ring has the outside screws and one screw inside, under the cap. if he can wedge something inbetween the cap anring I guess he could pry it open. I'd just be afraid of too much pressure and denting the tank.

 

I have always used a slide hammer and a screw screwed onto the end of it to bust locks out. Would work here?

 

yes, that would work if it dont yank the tank up with it.
