Default need electrical help

Hi all,

I have a 2001 Kawasaki Drifter 1500 (VN1500). Recently on n a trip to town it stalled in 4th and wouldn't start back up. After getting a long boost I was able to make it home. I then charged the battery over night on a trickle charge.

I have checked the battery with bike running and found only 12 volts at the terminal. I do not believe it is charging. I have checked the connections at what I believe is the regulator rectifier and everything looks in order. I have no wiring diagram, and no idea what pins should read what, so I am not sure how to check the parts and diagnose what is failing. Can someone tell me all the steps to know whether the regulator rectifier is bad, or if it is the stator. Maybe a flow chart with the correct voltages at the connectors etc?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I am sure with a meter and the correct information I can find the failed part, I just need to know what I am looking for.

Thanks to everyone in advance!
