My klt 160 is idling so high
hey I have a 1985 Kawasaki KLT 160 3 wheeler. I bought a brand new 22 millimeter carburetor for it and installed it. When I start it up it sounds like it is in neutral and I'm holding the gas. That's how it sounds when is idling So I have to shut it off immediately. it does nothin nothing when I turn the ideler screw. It doesn't even move the piston at all. I don't know what to do. Please help

Yeah I think I would start out with nothing hooked to the carb from the throttle, get it setup then hook up the cable. If it still runs high with out the cable hooked up, then you probably have a vac leak.

My dad said the throttle cable is good. I opened up the carb and I dont think the piston is down low enough. I put some pb blaster on it to loosen it up but it didnt do anything. I sealed the carb to the boot and the boot to the motor with permatex, and that didn't work either! I also think the float is stuck so I am gonna open up the bowl and see whats up.

On my bike there is a screw to adjust the idle rpm. it is usually located next to the throttle cable.
Also sometimes silly mistakes can happen, once when I was putting the carbs back on the bike one of the screws that tighten the carbs to the engine had shifted out of it's place and stuck itself between the carbs and the throttle cable so when I started the bike it went straight to 7K rpm. ...ops
