Default Motorcycle lifts or stand?

I have a small cruiser eliminator 125, I would like to work on the rear and front sides, which is better to buy, the lift or independent stands? or are the stands for sport bikes only? thanks.

A rear stand that can be used with spools or cups under the swing arm (you can switch from one to the other) is ideal for most jobs, including chain adjustment, oil changes and general maintenance. Team it with a front stand if you need to work on the forks or front wheel.

A lift is lovely, but can't be used with a lot of bikes. An Abba stand is also good - better than a rear stand but less convenient to use. Rear stands aren't needed with bikes that have centre stands.

I buy gear like this with the next bike in mind, and the one after that, not just my current bike, so I'd start with a rear stand.
