KZ1300 idle sticky
I have a 1980 KZ 1300 ... The bike had set for a couple years, before ot was in storage, it ran perfect ... well, the carbs got varnished up etc and we totally cleaned them ... But now, the idle comes back down slowly ... When we first did just the lower carb parts, the bike ran good, but when you rev it some, or ride and shifting, the idle would alwayst stick and slowly come back down ... we took them apart after that and totally cleaned the slides, jets , everything and now it is alot better, but still the idle does not come back down as fast as it should ... not real bad, but noticable ... Do you have any ideas why? and how it may be fixed? ... Thanks for any help you can give me

RE: KZ1300 idle sticky
Just wanted to say good luck. I cleaned my carbs on my kz1000 twice before I got them to run good. Soclean em 1 more time. you should be able to take them off and put them back on in no time by now[8D]

It may not be the "carbs" at all, but rather the throttle cable and/or return spring. Make sure you lube the cable (may even want to take it out and clean it) and check the spring on the carbs, especially since it's been sitting that long.
Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the imput so far...
Hi Jeff, the throttle cable is a push pull type ... there are 2 cables ... when you open the throttle it pulls it open and when you back off, the other cable forces it back down again, ... Not like most cables that are only a single cable thatslides back and forththrougha jacket and need the spring to back off on the throttle ... But thanks alotfor the help. everything helps

Thanks Dragon and sorry Jeff, guess I did not realize that ... figured the push pull forced it to open and close , I will have to look closer, hopefully I can pick it up tomorrow if it finally stops raining after over a week of waiting ... any other replies would be appreciated also if others have had different things cause it ... Thanks again for all the help
