Default (KLX250s/06)Piston seized in my cylinder potential problems???

So my piston seized in my engine, messed up one of my cams, snapped my cam chain. I already know I will have to replace the head of the piston...could I possibly bore out the cylinder so the piston wont seize again? Also this engine was left with the head open out in the elements here in Arizona, I am totally taking apart the engine, cleaning it out, then putting it back together...has anyone ever done this with a KLX250...2006. And how much would it cost to just turn it into a 300 considering all the man hours I am about to put into this bike. And what is the best way to clean out the inside of the crank cases and the engine? compressed air? solvents? anything? Any help would be great, and if I can just bore out the cylinder does anyone know any reasonable machine shops out in Arizona that can do it pretty reasonably? Any help would be nice! As I have neglected this ride for a long time and I'm itching to get her started again!

wow! Why was it open and exposed to the AZ elements to begin with?

I have not tore into the KLX yet, do you have alot of debris from the blow up? Any pics? Normally, I flush the entire engine in diesel in the parts washer. Then inspect after many flushes wishing that a complete tear down is not needed.

The info on the BB is listed in the 250 section I believe. Going up in size makes sense to me if you are not restricted to a racing class specification. Since there is already a cash outlay needed no matter what.

I am sure that the KLX gurus will respond soon. Good luck

yeah I had to remodel my house, thought since my cam chain was snapped and cam shaft messed up it would need a total rebuild anyways so i left it out....stupid. I took the engine to a shop now, going to get some help ripping this thing apart as i am not experienced enough to truly know what would need replacing so I figured id do myself a favor and have someone with experience help out. My biggest concern now is which would be cheaper...purchase a new cylinder, or pay someone to bore it out and re-sleeve and re-plate the inside of the cylinder.

A good choice in having an experienced person do the tear down.

I have read good things with the big bore kits. Something I would consider for sure for the cost.
