Default Ke100 troubles

So i recently aquired a 1992 kawasaki ke100. I had trouble getting it running but finally got it to ride. Now here comes the weird part, I was riding it yesterday and there was a fire coming from the carb mouth. I immediately pulled over damped the flame. Since then i haven't been able to even get it to idle. Everytime i try, flames or smoke just comes from the carb mouth area. I have read up on timing adn i think that is the cause. Can anybody offer some advise on how to time a dirtbike?

No air filter to the carb and you had flames coming out of the carb? Any other history on the ke? Was the original engine tore apart to make you think that the timing is an issue?

I took the head off and the other half of the crank case but didnt go any further than that. Could that have caused a timing issue??

You took the engine apart. So yes, check the timing, compression, etc

Your manual will help.
