KDX 200 top end seize
Hello I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I have a 1997 KDX 200 that recently had the piston sieze on me. The problem that I have is that the piston is cocked in the cylinder and there are pieces of metal broken and missing off of the piston head. My first question is does anyone know if these KDX cylinders are sleeved? I have found some things saying they are and some saying they are not and i have not had the time yet to get the cylinder off ( Thats this week's project). Second, Im sure that the little bits of metal that are broken off of the piston head have made their way down into the bottom end of my bike. So, does anyone know an easy way to "flush" out the bottom end without havign to crack the case?
Thank you
Thank you
hmm, flush with a cheap oil. You already know that the top end needs done. Depending on the hrs, the bottom may be ok. Try a magnet on the "sleeve", not sure on how to test the newer plated stuff. The surface/cross hatch may be different as well in which the rings will need to be of different material. Just tossing things out there with no real answers. Good luck.
Thanks I will give that a shot. I have heard about people using oil or mineral sporits to flush out the bottom end but only when theres engine build up in it. I wasnt sure if itd work for small metal pieces. Thanks again for tip
