K&N filter oil...spray evenly from a few inches away until the thing is red...let it dry for an hour or so...install.

It should have been packaged with a vial of oil; like a small tube of threadlocker. Dribble it around on the filter (not a big blob in one spot.) Like zz said--let it sit a bit, then install.

When it's time to clean it. Buy filter oil from the bike shop, can buy a big can for like 6 bucks.

mine didnt come with any "extra" oil... corprate-penny-pinching-punks. hey do you guys use the spray on grease for your chain or the wax? i bought some black magic in a spray can and the only thing magic about it is it seems to get EVERYWHERE no matter how carefull you are....
