Question issues with my KVF 300 4x4 2002

Just did a full out carb clean new fuel starts up great and idles good also. but when I press on the gas is starts to revving up and down and a bugging down along with a backfire from time to time just while it isn't in gear. but while in drive it runs great like a new bike.

needing any info to help me out! I have a poker ride on the 1st of June.

Is the carb seated in the boot all the way? Do a backtrack on the assembly. Use the either or WD40 trick around the boots at idle to see if the rpms increase.

Welcome to KF and good luck.

Moved to General Tech.

Did that and nothing. I also put about 6oz's of seafoam in the tank per gal of new fuel. as well. I am going to go out and take the carb back off here in a few and check the jets. but it's just funny that it just does this in rev. and while in Neutral. and not while I am driving it.

also do they still make the warn 4x4 lock out switch for my 4wheeler? lol

I do not have a manual on your ride to check the electrics. A governor possibly?

if it was the "governor" wouldn't it do it while in drive as well? and the only thing on my fuel system that is elec. is the heater.
anyways I took carb off last night and took the jets back out all are clean and ran 3000 PSI of air through the carb from my scuba tank to blow any loose crap out of it..lol going to put it back on in a few and try it out again... lol wish me luck!

Update*
issue still there. only thing I can figure is 1 of 2 things. to much fuel or not enough. did have a slight burp sound come from the carb area after it started. but revving with a from time to time backfire is still there...
ready to get the lighter out and fix it for good..lol

What are you showing on your vacuum gauge during all of this? (or carb synch rack)

Haven't had it checked yet. trying to find one that doesn't cost a arm and or leg is the issue..
