How to change a ring gear for dummy?
Hi, i am new here!
I just buy an old kawa ninja 750R 1987, I got it for a small price (250$)!!
But the only thing I need to repair on it is the ring gear the guy say.
Can someone explain to me what exactly do I need to open before I dismantle everything until I found it
What I think I need to do:
1. remove the oil from the engine
2. remove the cap from the right side under the starter?
3. I should see the ring gear?
So basically I am new in doing repair for motorcycle, I dont have problem with car but with motorcycle its new to me
Thanks for any help!

Welcome to KF and congrats on the new ride.
Spend a couple of dollars and get the factory manual. and check in KF's general discussion for manuals.
edit: I was going thru my manual quickly asking myself, what ring gear are you referring to in this engine?

Hi thanks for the welcome
The ring gear with the starter, actually I hear the starter turning but the gear are broken so the motor dont start.
Where I can find a manual? Does it explain how to change this thing?
Is there are an equivalent of hayne car repair manual for moto?
Thanks
I attached the schema of the starter for my bike, but that not show what I need to do to remove this gear

even the manual does not give instruction on that gear change for Dummies! sheesh
edit: in the crankshaft/trans section. looks the same as the 89/90 case in a way. The manuals are in the gen discussion area. give me a minute to send over the pics of the ninja 750 info.

I found a manual but it's not in stock and will take to much time to get it: http://www.amazon.ca/Kawasaki-ZXR750...5544144&sr=8-4
I will call monday some dealer to see if they have this book, but hopefully I will have my answer before, I want to put my new toy on the road for july

Edit: Thanks for the images. I hope I dont need to remove all the engine

So no one here never changed an idle gear? I want to know if I can change this gear without removing the engine from the frame.
Hopefully not, I will ask tomorrow on a dealer to see what they will say about it.
