i'm very mechanically inclined but i've been unable to find a wiring schematic for a 1989 kawasaki ninja zx750 anywhere online....

the problem is the altenator went bad on my bike and the pigtail adapter to it burnt out so i was going to straight wire it....but every time i hook up the wiring the license plate light stays on and drains the battery....

can anyone help a motorcycle enthusiast who wants to fix her own bike?

 

I have schematics for late 90s through 00's zx7, but I cannot at all attest if it is the same as back then. I know early 90s would be pretty much the same.

 

dragone#19 is the man as far as coming up with schematics.

 

hahaha, now you are making me unpack to get my manuals! lol Take a peek at sro's diagrams first. May take me a couple of days.

hmm i have a 90 zx750r and i thought i had a prob with altenator thank god twas only the belt lol.

my question is why not just get new pigtail i found altenators online all day for 60 and just unscrew and remove it heck just put the whole new altenator in wires and all since yours fried it anyways time for a new one?

 

because the old pig tail burnt out and my ex (who thinks he's a master mechanic) cut it off and now the wiring is off a bit....the altenator is locked up and i'm replacing it...not to mention it broke the belt....but after he cut it we fell out and now it's left up to me to re wire it....

 

hahaha, good learning right there! Time to just learn and dig in. I like that. By the way, I am still trying to clean out my garage storage unit to find manuals.
