General carb question
Is there any other reason other then having dirt in the carb that would keep me from running without having the choke pulled out ?
I have dissasembled and cleaned out the sysytem twice with carb cleaner and have checked float level.

Welcome to KF!
Could be a number of reasons, not all of which are carb related. Mixture screws, improperly installed jets, idle screw, could even be the fuel supply or air filter on the extreme. Did you only notice the problem after the carb cleaning? How did it start? Does it die immediately or sputter for a bit? Have you checked the plugs?
At least she runs, makes it easier to diagnose. Let us know what you find.

hmm, the carb is not cleaned if you mentioned that possibility. Welcome to KF
I let it sit to long, when I took it apart there was some green discoloration so I cleaned and scraped with plastic till I could see no more. The plug was fine.I was able to get it running after many kicks (usually starts first time)but only on fast idel with choke pulled out.I reset the one and only needle setting that the KLX service manual book has. Also washed out the fuel tank and was as carefull as possible in looking carefully for any particals anywhere. If it does not work next time I will soak it overnight.
Come to think of it, my bike did the same thing once. Was water in the tank and a bad fuel filter, couldnt touch the trottle or it would die, so I had to leave the choke on and blow it all through.
soak the carb parts over night, that way you will know that the gelled gas is gone or any other debris. Change the fuel filter and the petcock screen along with cleaning the tank. Couldn't hurt. Time to be abit more thorough maybe. Some of this has already been mentioned. Good luck on the cleaning.
