Default gear shifter return spring

Ok it seems the gear shifter return spring has gone weak as the lever is floppy. Question is where do I find it to check and can you buy the spring. I can still get all gears but have to carefully push lever down a bit to kick it up. Is it ok to ride like this or will I.damage it more ?

For the spring and lever removal: My manual says to remove the shift pedal, remove the clutch, turn the shift drum to the 1st gear position, remove the shift shaft while pushing the shift mechanism arm toward the shaft. Remove the gear positioning lever mounting bolt and take off the gear positioning lever.

To check the spring, remove the lever, case cover and you can visually inspect to see if the spring is broken or not.

Yes, the spring can be purchased separately.
