Do you have a temp gauge on the bike?? Especially when it's warm out, it doesn't take a lot of time to get warm enough to kick the fan on. I think the fan kicks on around 220 or so. My fan doesn't kick on very often, I have water wetter in tho' and that helps a lot on temps down here.. If you have a temp gauge, where does it run at riding around town?? If it was warm out and you were idling, I'd say 5 minutes or so was prob normal. Mine's a '90 zx1000, and that sounds about right before I put the water wetter in....
