I know that I use engine braking. Maybe the slipper clutch on the 7 helps out, but started out as a track ride from the dealer for me. although going from 11k rpm, downshift 3, I have not had any issues.

Compstall, im pretty sure it would be a heck of a ride but as Drag said the slipper would play a nice part in this. other than being a super sick noise imo i cant see anything wrong with this

nothing wrong with engine braking as long as you don't go overboard and drop the gearing down too far. doing that can skid the rear wheel or evn worse damage the engine internals.

I was taught years ago that it was okay if done correctly, if you a mashing gears and going overboard than it could f up the transmission, and brake pads are much cheaper than transmissions. That said, I do it constantly and haven't had any problems. I think common snese is the key, just like everything else in motorcycling.

i've done it in everything really, as a mechanic kinda guy it don't feel good but i know it won't hurt anything if done right. just don't get crazy and you'll be fine, i do it all the time on my bike as a choice method. i don't have any certain rpms cuz i don't use my tach much....i ride and drive by "feel" if that makes sense.

i do the same. i usually keep the engine braking to the middle of the rpm range, nothing real high end unless i just shot up there in the same gear i am draggin it down in.
engine breaking when done properly is no harder on the bike/car than accelerating
