Default drain tranny when switching to synth?

Hope this isnt a stupid question for my first One! But I am switching over to synthetic oil in my 06 Ninja 650r with 6300 miles. Is it as simple as draining the oil and adding the synthetic. I have always done the oil changes myself.
Someone (a Harley owner) told me I have to drain the tranny as well?

Thanks

Since your ninja uses the same oil for both engine and tranny, a good draining of the existing oil and changing of the oil filter is all that is needed.

Yes; the synth is for motorcycles. Around $12/qt.

Thanks for asking though.

Everyone has their own preferences on oil.
