Carbs overflowing UPDATED
Hi guys, I hope someone can help with this.
I have a block of 4 carbs from my 750 Zephyr on the bench. I have them setup in the vice so they are roughly level. I am then manually filling them with fuel with the aim of checking the fuel heights, but two carbs on one end are leaking fuel from the Pilot Air Jet and the Main Air Jet that are on the air intake side of the carb. So, I am guessing it is overfilling and overflowing up through the Main and Pilot Jets and out of the Air Jets. Does that make sense? What would be causing this to happen (is it float heights or something?) and how do I go about rectifying it? Thanks.
**UPDATE: I have now worked out how to measure the float height (found a manual online), and some of them where way to high, so I have adjusted them to 16mm (they can be between 15-17mm apparently). This seems to have helped, except I'm still getting a problem with one overflowing. I've taken it apart again to clean it and inspect and all looks good, checked the float height again and tweaked it very slightly. I'll check it again later to see if it still overflows - hopefully they won't now.
But the other question is, if the float height are adjusted correctly, how do you further adjust the fuel level if it seems to be measuring too high? It could be that I'm not measuring the fuel level correctly, I'm using a length of clear tube on the end of the drain tube and measuring back to the float bowl mating surface (can be 0.5mm below to 1.5mm above). They all seem to be measuring high at the moment...**
