Carb leaking Gas

Just wondering if anyone know's how to troubleshoot and fix a leaking carb!
Gas is leaking out the overflow when the bike is running after idle. It is an old KZ440, has been ridin daily, and was rode yesterday morning, sat for 6 hours, now gas is leaking!
Any ideas on this????
Thanks so much in advance for any help on this matter! Nita

Sounds like a float needle / seat issue. The float system is supposed to regulate how much fuel is allowed into the bowls. If something causes the needle not to fully seat, fuel will continue coming in, eventually running out the overflow. Sometimes they can be cleaned, other times they need to be replaced from wear. Either way, you'll have to dig into the carb and check their condition.

Thanks for the input, guess I had best find my manual and see what I can do, frustration is setting in!! LOL, oh well! Learn a little more everytime something screws up!

Sounds like Ninja has you covered, its a common problem and you should have no troubles getting back on the road. Let us know how it goes.

Welcome to KF!

as mentioned by 94ninja ^+1 and verify float height at the same time. I have seen a float or two fuel log because they leaked and filling up with fuel. Good luck on the troubleshoot/repair.

Figured it out...

Got the carbs off, got the floats bowls open and everything looked normal, and the specs were good too, but, replaced the needles anyways in both, put it all back together and it is running fine...THANK YOU

Couldn't find the needles for the KZ440, but matched the originals up with a set of Harley's, Huh, Kawasaki, and Harley use the same Carbs manufacturer!

THANK YOU!!! Without your input on the issue, I wouldn't have known what to repair!
I can fix almost anything, just don't know how to diagnose it!
