Another FI Light Question...
Hi everyone,
I'm new to the site. I was doing a google search trying to find a fix for my problem and came across the site. Great site with tons of info. I did a search but couldn't find the answer to my question.
I have an 03 636. A slip on exhuast was installed back in 03. The bike had been sitting around for a while and when I went to start it it was hard to get started. Once I got it started it didnt sound right and the FI light was on.
I drained the tank (gas was pretty old) and filled with fresh gas but light is still on.I did some research and it looks like I need to ground out one of the wires on the harness that's attached to the ECU, then turn on the ignition and count how many times the FI light blinks to get the code.
I wanted to know if someone could tell me exactly what to do since i dont want to ground out the wrong wire and killthe computer.
Thanks!!
PS- I dont think it's the exhaust causing the light to come on because it's been on the bike for years with no problems.

Since you say it was old gas, It could be clogged injectors from the old fuel sitting in the fuel rail. I just told someone else the same thing earlier. Pull your injectors off and send them to MPS racing in south Florida. It costs about $15 per injector, but they clean them and put new screens in them and they do a "before and after" test. Well worth the money and saves alot of hassle. They have pretty good turn around time too, just a couple of days + shipping.
