Default 98 Ninja 500 Oil Change

Hi, I was looking to do an oil change on my bike. However I can't get the drain plug to open up. I was wondering what size socket wrench I'd require in order to get it open. I tried a 5/8" and that was just a wee bit too small.

Any one know what the correct size would be?

Thanks

It's metric not standard. i beleive it's a 17mm. you run the risk of stripping it with a standard socket. Welcome to KF

Welcome to KF

As mentioned above, use a metric socket. I think it was 17mm. Do not overtighten the plug because it can strip easily. Wipe down the washer and surfaces well before reinstalling.

Hey! Thanks for the tips. I successfully completed the change last week with no issues. Thanks again.
