Sorry for my ignorance, new to motorcycles. I was wondering... is there a fuel filter on my 95 ex 500?? If so, is it the same as a seperator? If not where is it? I went to the dealership to get a filter because i was doing a little tune up, and they tried selling me a $60 seperator. I would appreciate any help!

 

the filer is a little screen on the pit kock tube inside the tank. it's best to pick up a inline filter from a auto parts store fora couple of bucks.

The petcock strainer won't do much to prevent medium sized particles from entering your carbs. Some carburettors do have a built in filter on the inlet tube though. (Not sure if the EX500 has this.)
