94 Kawasaki KLX250 spluttering
Hi there, i was wondering if somebody could help us out with a problem i have with my bike. I went for a ride yesterday only about 10km but on the way back the bike had no throttle or power,it will start ok and idle ok but as soon as you give it a bit of throttle (like about 1/4 throttle)it will splutter and stall.I managed to idle it home but had to walk beside it up my long drive as it wouldnt take my weight.Have plenty of gas in the tank and have recently changed the filters in the tank.
The carb is a CVK model with the slide and rubber diaphram .
I just wanted to know if anybody knows where to start looking first before i start to disassemle the carby.
Thankyou,Alan

I would probably drain the bowl firstly and check the float height while looking for obvious obstructions. But it does sound like you need to clean your carb. (I do not use additives for cleaning).
Good luck and welcome to KF.

Thanks,i pulled the carb out and found some gunk in the float housing ,gave it a clean and checked float level at same time (13mm,not sure if this was correct but left it at that setting) reassembled and it runs fine now. Thanks again,Alan.
