I bought a 2011 Ninja 250 yesterday. I rode it 60 miles home from the dealer and all was fine. Later on I took out for an hour ride and the temp light started faintly blinking and eventually was solid and stayed on for about 2 minutes and then it went off. I stopped at the store and shut off the bike. The fan continued to run for about a minute or two. An hour later I started up and left the store and the temp light came back on for 20 seconds and then turned off.

Any idea why the light is coming on? I'd hate to have to ride 60 miles back to the dealer but I don't want to hurt the bike. Thanks

 

Interesting, I dont guess you have a temp gauge?

Double check your coolant level in the system and in the fill tank (Disclaimer: Dont open the system when its hot, lol) sometimes a bubble in the system will give a false reading. Also check your thermostat most likely not the issue but an easy check.
