Default 1997 Vulcan 500 Front Inner Fork Tube

I have recently acquired a 1997 Vulcan 500 classic, but it was crashed and it shows, the bike handles funny.
I ordered several parts from my local kawasaki dealer, but one thing I didn't order was the front left inner fork tube, and this is simply because it costs $193 before tax.
Anyway, I was wondering if I could substitute the inner fork tube from a 1985 Vulcan 750 or 700?
If this is possible, I could save a lot of money on this fork tube replacement.
Thanks for all answers.

welcome to KF. Check out your favorite fiche. compare the numbers. There is a good chance of other brands matching the inner tube size as well.
