Default 1996 Kawasaki ZL600B2 exhaust question

Yah, I know, I just got the darn thing and I want to mod the hell out of it already, but what the heck is up with these pipes?!! I realize that the ZL600B2 is basically a NINJA in cruiser clothing so thats why it has the big honking canister exhaust. What would happen if I bought 2 slip in baffles and then take the 4into2 exhaust to a car muffler shop, tell em to fabricate me a set of straight pipes I can slip the baffles into. Would that work or am I askin fer trouble?

I think that the 4 into 2 (depending on the cam degreeing and ignition tweaks from the factory) are setup for cruising. More tq down low in the rpm band. You start messin' with pipes, better figure on tweaking other parts on the bike as well. When you say straight pipes, is that 4 into 2 since you mentioned maybe buying two slip in baffles. Trying to get the gist of this.

i would get on ebay and look for a exhaust for a 600 ninja, take that to an exhaust shop and have then modify it to fit the can where needed.

I was looking into going from the big canisters on the end to like slip on slash cuts with baffles. I just don't know if that would mess up the bike very much.

I have found my solution !!!!

Insert "EUREKA!!!!!" here

I was crusin an Aussie Eliminator forum and found where one of our down-under mates had replaced his stock exhaust canisters with
slip on Harley Screamin Eagle 2 exhaust. Man do they ever look great.
