1989 klr250 valves sinking?
hi guys,
i adjusted my valves about 150km(i ride it pretty hard) ago but now my bike wont idle and feels like it has very little compression when kicking. So, i know that the vaves are getting tight, but are the valves stretching or are they sinking into the head? is this normal for a klr with only 6000km on the clock?
thanks

valves will self-brinnel a seat within reason, but rarely enough to warrant major adjustment or increased intervals.
if you rip into it, mic the stem, gauge out the sreat width to see if it's past the factory tolerance, and check woble and PTV clearance with clay if you're really paranoid.
run a leakdown and compression check to ensure it's not something else possible.. you never know for sure!!
but..
as Maverick said, you might need new valves.. a light lapping and new shims and you'll be set.
good luck, and welcome to KF!

thanks guys,
Im going to start takin it apart tomorrow. The guy i spoke to at the shop said that i would probably only need the inlet valves and not the exhaust(exhaust valves are $70au!!! so i wont replace them unless i really have to) while im at it ill give her a new set of rings while im at it.
Would you guys be able to tell me how tight to torque the head bolts?
Thanks alot.
