Welcome to KF
Have you checked out your manual first?
Your manual will give you requirements on coils for example. How are the plug wires as another example?

Clean the battery terminals. Is there an ignition relay?

I'm thinking William^ is onto something. Sounds like a resistor getting hot to me. Make sure your ground is clean. There's something your in your electrical connections not right.

As for oil, that always starts major problems when discussed. I use motorcycle specific oil on all mine. I have in the past used Castrol GTX with no problems, but prefer to go a little more manufacturer specific. In motorcycle I use Valvoline motorcycle oil from Checker Auto parts for my girlfriends Rebel and Mobil 1 synthetic moto oil for the ZRX and ZX11.
